Rain... ough!

Another rainy weekend!
I have just finished the wedding album design from David & Cassidy’s wedding. We spent three days together in Florida celebrating their love and enjoying the warmth of the Florida sun. As I designed this album it brought me back to their special day and the fun we all had together. The sunset was amazing and the little island that the wedding was on could not have been more perfect. As I look at their photos I am reminded that I have the best job in the world! I get to share the most profound moments in my clients lives. A true blessing.

Click the play button below if you want to see their album but you might have to wait just a minute as the files take little bit to download before the show begins.

Kristen & Brandon's Album!

Kristin & Brandon got married last year and are coming to Portland today to review their album designs. As part of a new tradition we thought the rest of the world might enjoy seeing the album layout on the new blog. The wedding was held in the chapel on the Bastes campus and the reception was at the lodge of the Lost Valley Ski Resort. See you tonight guys! ~Tim

Heather and Michael

This April 21(Earth Day!!) I was fortunate enough to be capturing the wedding of Heather and Michael. They must have had some cash in the Karma bank, because they got the first amazing weather we have had all spring. It was 70, and cloudless and overall perfect!
Weddings are all about stories; peoples lives, families coming together, and the dance of two people connecting for a lifetime. Heather and Michael's meeting is one of my all time favorites. They met on a blind date that didn't go so well. Two years later there was something about him that she couldn't shake. She contacted the same friend that got them together in the first place and asked her to re-introduce them. The second time was the magic.
The day was filled with great photo opps. that ranged from the steps of a beautiful old chapel in rural Maine, to the decidedly more urban environment of Augusta's waterfront district. :-)!! The wedding party was all in, and the bride and groom were game for whatever I could dream up. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

Sarah & Jason

I got to spend an hour yesterday with Sarah & Jason doing their engagement shoot. I met these two last year when I photographed Sarah's sisters wedding. A wild one for sure! Despite the cold wind and numb hands, we had fun at the edge of the ocean. Photos are posted below and at rileyclients.com.

Enjoy!

Free Shoot! 2007 Brides & Grooms

2007 Brides!

If you are one of our 2007 brides, we have an offer for the daring.

As your photographer, we know that not everyone has planned time on the wedding day to do an extensive photo shoot of just the bride and groom alone.

Each year we do have a select number of couples who set aside a chunk of time on their wedding day just for a personal photo shoot in order to capture the more intimate and fun bridal photos.

As artists, it is these moments that capture creativity and emotion which produces images like no other. In 2008 we will be requesting time alone with all our couples to capture moments that are just not possible when Mom and Dad are around.

However, for this year we are offering a free photo shoot to any 2007 couples who want to do something different!

Have the groom get an old tux or suit and have the bride find or purchase an inexpensive wedding dress that you don't care about ruining.

We are looking for couples who want to try something unique; we want to get shots that you would never attempt in your actual wedding gown. We want couples who think the idea of destroying an inexpensive wedding gown in the name of creativity might be a lot of fun!

Below are a list of ideas, but we welcome any thoughts you might have.

1. Photographs on the wing of a friend's plane.
2. Photographs in an antique automobile, sports car etc
3. Photographs in the ocean or out on a hike in the woods.
4. Photographs in you sailboat, or at a dock
5. Photographs at your favorite bar or pub in a wedding dress and tux

Think outside the box and e-mail us your idea. Be creative and inventive. What are your hobbies? Would they make for fun (odd) wedding photos?

Understandably this is not for everyone. If you are interested please contact us so that we can start thinking about how to orchestrate the shoot.

Cheers,
Tim and Chris Riley

Las Vegas convention!!

WOW!!! The country kids go to the big city. We just got back from the WPPI and DWF conventions in Las Vegas. There were two conventions and a trade show going on at the same time and we were able to spend time at each. It was true sensory overload as well as a photographers candy store. How we got out of that city without spending thousands and thousands is beyond both of us. Although admittedly we didn't have time to experience Vegas for all that it has to offer we had a great time. We met other photographers from around the world(literally!!) took classes, attended lectures, bounced ideas of one another, and generally got some really great inspiration for the year to come. For me the highlight of the week came on the last day. Tim and I attended lectures from a few of the most respected wedding photographers in the world. The work they displayed left me speechless and their words reminded me that this whole thing is about people and about the emotion that surrounds a wedding. More than ever I feel honored to be part of each and every wedding and to be given the opportunity to capture the beginning of a new chapter.

First Real Post!

How exciting! A fellow photographer has convinced me to start a blog and while I have no clue if people will actually visit the blog, it might just be fun. As part of this first post I am including a slide show from Maresi and Chad’s wedding. A great wedding with amazing people and some kids that might just have stolen the show. The rest of the photos will be online shortly at www.rileyclients.com

Enjoy!
